Fathers are synonymous with bad fashion, bad dancing and generally embarrassing their families.
Many dads do it on purpose while others are simply beyond help in terms of being anyway ‘with it’ as most weren’t even ‘with it’ when they were younger!
If the above is blended with the concept of encouraging people to save then it doesn’t take any of the many self-proclaimed marketing gurus out there to realise this is the mother of all challenges… so to speak.
People, especially young people, do not like saving.
Combine this with the fact 99.9% of dads are not designed to communicate through the art of either song or dance, and it spells disaster.
This time of year always brings out the weird and bizarre aspects of European culture.
The weekend heralded the annual continental embarrassment that is the Eurovision Song Contest – this year hosted in Malmo, Sweden and won by its neighbour Denmark.
The event, or maybe there was a full moon or perhaps it coincided with an ancient Pagan ritual, inspired one Cornish IFA to not only attempt to blend Eurovision with the notion of prudent savings behaviour, but also to post the output on YouTube, which operates in many cases as a modern day ‘You’ve Been Framed’ but without the £250 following in the post!
The shock horror sparked another staffer and Burningpants contributor to remember another instance whereby perhaps what sounded like a good idea at the time (albeit after a few too many quick drinks after work and on an empty stomach) wasn’t such a great idea after all.
In this instance the perpetrator was a corporate entity – oh dear!
