CoreData was commissioned to help FBAA gain a deeper understanding of market sentiment towards buying and renting in the current economic environment. The survey measured several aspects of the general population’s financial situation, existing property ownership, their intention to purchase property in the future, engagement with brokers, experiences of renters, and market outlook.

The survey was emailed to Australians aged 18 years and older between the 9th and 28th of October 2024. A portion of the sample was collected using nationally representative sampling to gauge property ownership among Australians (see ‘Snapshot of Australia’ section). The total survey attracted 1251 responses, which were split across buyers, renters and renter-buyers. These responses formed the basis of the analysis.
